Quinta da Pellada
Dao - Portugal
Wonderfully elegant, this has subtle but good concentration, a fine finish and a serious demeanor. Its graceful and understated demeanor shouldn't make you think this is a wimp—there is fine grip on the finish, although the tannins are not astringent at all. This is beautifully done, serious but approachable and graceful. This is the same price as the Reserva Dão 2015. I had a minor preference for that—it seems a little more solid and a little more expressive, while this is a touch silkier and fresher. Reasonable minds might differ. This may age even better than anticipated. It is a reasonable value point in the lineup set for release in October.
